SINGAPORE: A trip to Singapore is not complete without a visit to the iconic Orchard Road. Once home to rows of fruit orchards, pepper farms and nutmeg plantations, this city must-do is now bustling with activities, dining and retail spots that attract tourists and locals alike. Here are our four favourite places in the neighbourhood!

    Retail Therapy Galore

The prominent ION Orchard mall is a must-visit for any retail therapy session. With various international luxury boutiques and local fashion brands, there is something for every taste and budget. Head to Levels 1 and above if you are looking to splurge a little more on luxury brands, and Levels B1 to B4 for more affordable brands.

Those looking to shop local should visit Design Orchard - an integrated retail space that allows emerging Singaporean designers to display their brand and products. Our insider’s tip is to head to the rooftop for a coffee break at Alchemist.

    Arts, Culture and Fun

Culture vultures can’t miss the ION Art Gallery which displays innovative multi-media and digital art from artists and designers from across Asia.  For the bookworms, indulge in an afternoon read at Library@Orchard, located at Level 3 of Orchard Gateway. Those interested in Chinese literature can also visit Zall Bookstore at Wheelock Place, which houses a hidden art gallery as well as a lovely café. And, if you’re travelling with the kids, head to K-Bowling Club complete with Arcade games, Dart machines and a bowling alley – it’s perfect if the weather turns during your visit.

    Feast for the Senses

The sheer number of dining options available along Orchard Road will ensure you’ll never want for food. Head to Tanuki Raw at Orchard Central for delectable Japanese rice bowls, or Ratio Café and Gastrobar at ION Orchard for a modern take on traditional flavours. And for those that love to immerse themselves in the local culture, you can’t go past a classic Singaporean meal at Killiney Kopitiam near 313@Somerset.

Can’t decide? Visit the busy food courts at Takashimaya Ngee Ann City or ION Orchard to feast on different cuisines without burning your budget. And, when the dining’s done, sip on a refreshing smoothie at Coocaça located at Liat Towers or treat yourself to the Instagrammable ice cream parfaits from Sunday Folks at ION Orchard.

    Stay and Play

What better way to explore Singapore’s renowned district than staying near the heart of Orchard Road. The spacious Adina Serviced Apartments Singapore Orchard are close to two of Singapore’s central MRT stations - Somerset and Dhoby Ghaut. If you prefer to explore on foot, simply flash your Adina key card to receive discounts at a number of stores and eateries. With a minimum six-night stay, you’ll have all the time you need to explore the neighbourhood at your own pace.
