Trendy, diverse, innovative – Over the last few years, Leipzig has developed into Germany’s new hotspot. And we’ll tell you why.

The Opera, the Gewandhaus, the Wilhelminian district – of course! These are all must-sees when visiting Leipzig. Culturally, however, the city caught up with the third millennium ages ago.  You’ll find an exciting mix of the historical and the contemporary in this Saxonian in-city: cultural highlights for fans of music, the arts and literature, a lively nightlife and a vivacious creative scene.

Besides the classical companies such as the opera, ballet and the Gewandhaus orchestra, audiences in Leipzig are pampered with a diverse programme taking place on a number of independent stages. The Neues Schauspiel Leipzig, a private theatre initiative housed in an old printer’s workshop, or the LOFFT, which stages performance art and contemporary dance in the city’s “most independent theatre”.

    Progressive art scene

Art fans can’t resist a visit to the Museum der Bildenden Künste, the Grassi Museum or the Galerie für zeitgenössische Kunst. The Monopol Leipzig is also worth a visit:  The former distillery is home today to artists and creative minds of every genre. “From cotton to culture“ is the motto of the Spinnerei, which these days houses over 100 artists’ ateliers. And the new Kunstkraftwerk, once a combined heat and power station, has been presenting itself as an edgy centre for contemporary art and culture, design and communication since 2016.

And if you’re still in the mood for a night out after a long day of cultural activity, night owls will find what they’re looking for in the bars and pubs around the streets Barfußgässchen, the Schauspielviertel district, on Münzgasse, on Südmeile along “KarLi” street as well as on Karl-Heine-Strasse in the Plagwitz district.

The Adina Apartment Hotel Leipzig is the perfect base to take a discovery tour through the Saxonian metropolis. It is situated right in the heart of the city centre in the “Brühlpelz Tower” – conveniently close to the tourist attractions and the in-neighbourhoods.
